Takata sales to return to black after recalls

Takata

Takata Corp., the Japanese company at the center of a massive global air bag recall, is sticking to its forecast of posting a 13 billion yen ($129 million) profit for the fiscal year through March.
After a massive global air bag recall, Japanese company Takata Corp.'s is sticking to its forecast of posting a profit of 13 billion yen -- $129-million -- for the fiscal year through March.
Takata had two straight years of losses over the recalls, and has said it'll return to the black this fiscal year.
However, some analysts note that recall costs, which're now being shouldered by automakers, will be billed to Takata.
The company also facing class-action lawsuits over its defective air bag inflators responsible for 11 deaths and more than 100 injuries worldwide.

Takata

Takata also makes seat belts and child seats, and says sales after the recalls were still holding up, and it still had enough cash.
But, things could change depending on how the company's recall-related expenses add up.
A recent study by Kelley Blue Book found consumer awareness about the Takata recalls was very low.
Even though it's the largest recall in U.S. history affecting one in every eight vehicles on U.S. road...
...compared to other news like the Zika virus and Hillary Clinton's email problems, only about half of the respondents in the U.S. had heard about the recalls.
