Android N Officially Named 'Nougat'

Google has announced that the official name of the next version of its Android mobile operating system is Nougat, a type of candy bar mixed with sugar, honey and nuts.

Originally known as Android N, Android Nougat will be version 7.0 of one of the world's most used smartphone operating system. Keeping with tradition, Google has named the next iteration of Android after a sweet treat that's in-line with the alphabet. 

The first version of Android to be named after a sweet was version 1.5 Cupcake. This was followed by Donut (1.6), Eclair (2.0), Froyo (2.2), Gingerbread (2.3), Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), Jelly Bean (4.1), KitKat (4.4), Lolliop (5.0) and currently, Marshmallow (6.0).
