My Chemical Romance Share Cryptic Tweet and New Logo -- Is the Band Staging a Comeback?

My Chemical Romance

Break out your eyeliner and beat-up Chucks -- My Chemical Romance may be returning to the black parade.

The pop-punk kings hinted at a reunion on Tuesday, posting a cryptic tweet featuring a 30-second video of a white flag waving to the sound of the piano intro of 2006's "Welcome to the Black Parade." The clip ended with the date "9/23/16."
"Welcome to the Black Parade" came out 10 years ago on Sept. 11 and was the lead single off their third album, The Black Parade, released on Oct. 23, 2006.

What does that all mean? We're gearing up for the 10th anniversary of the band's most prolific and best-known album. The Jersey boys' website even features a new logo, the same black cross that can be seen in the video, along with the letters M, C, R, and X. Seeing as "X" is also the Roman numeral for 10, this is all pretty telling that something big is coming.

MCR's last record, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, came out in 2010. After 12 years and four studio albums, the band split in March 2013. They announced the breakup with an official statement on their website, reading:

"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure."

A couple of days later, lead singer Gerard Way released an essay, shared via Twitter, where he admitted, "I woke up this morning still dreaming, or not fully aware of myself just yet. The sun poked through the windows, touching my face, and then a deep sadness overcame me, immediately, bringing me to life and realization -- My Chemical Romance had ended."

The now 39-year-old singer wrapped up his epically long musing with, "My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band -- it is an idea."

Apparently someone could predict the future, but then again, this is a band that put out a previously unreleased track called "Fake Your Death" on their greatest hits collection, May Death Never Stop You, released in March 2014.

How emo!

Neither Gerard nor his brother, Mikey Way, have commented on social media about the cryptic tweet, but Mikey did share his excitement over a different reboot: Duck Tales.
